Biography


Tail Lights are fronted by Loz Netto [ vocals, guitar ], with Andy Butler [ keyboards, vocals], Nigel Ball [ bass, vocals ] and Chris Grout-Smith [ drums, percussion ]

Loz Netto

Lead vocals and guitar
Loz started his professional career on tour with Ben E King, lead singer for The Drifters, playing classics such as Stand By Me and Under The Boardwalk. He joined soul/funk band Moon as guitarist and songwriter releasing two albums on CBS before being picked to join Sniff ‘n’ The Tears who had a worldwide hit with the song Driver’s Seat - still played weekly on BBC Radio 2. Loz then embarked on a solo career, releasing a string of acclaimed albums and singles. The single Fade Away reached the U.S. top 40, the top 10 in Holland and charted in most European countries. His songs have been recorded by a number of artists including Chaka Khan, Rick James, Joe Walsh, Kenny Rogers and Toyah Wilcox. He has also worked with Thomas Dolby, Tamsin Archer, Lene Lovich and Betty Boo, and toured with Thin Lizzy, War, Kenny Loggins, Ian Dury and the Blockheads, Lynda Lewis, Gill Scott Heron, The Police and Dire Straits. AndyButler

Keyboards, backing vocals
Andy started out playing on the London circuit during the eighties, alongside such names as T’Pau and It Bites. He gravitated towards session work, working with artists as diverse as Tom Jones, Malcolm McClaren, David Stewart, Mari Wilson, Captain Sensible and Rosebud. Tail Lights has tempted Andy back into gigging – playing music he loves with great musicians – who could resist?

Nigel Ball

Bass, backing vocals
Nigel has played and toured extensively throughout the U.K., Europe, Thailand, India and Latin America, absorbing the musical influences of the continents to become a melting pot of varied styles. He’s being playing professionally since he was in his mid-teens and is as cool and funky a bass player as you could want.

Chris Grout Smith

Drums

Chris has played in many varied professional bands over the years, from Soul, R’n’B, Latin through to Fusion, Jazz and Blues – you name it, and solid as they come. Together with Nigel, Chris forges the tight, driving rhythm section that is the backbone of the band.
